Bering Sea Upper Continental Slope Groundfish Bottom. During the summer and fall ofthe Northwest and Alaska. Fisheries Center, Seattle, of the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) conducted a comprehensive groundfish the eastern and central Gulf of Alaska.

This survey was part of the NMFS Marine Resources Monitoring, Assessment, and. "Trawl survey of groundfish re sources in the Gulf of Alaska, summer ," by Gene C. Feldman and Craig S. Rose. U.S. Oep. Commer., NOAA Tech. Memo. NMFS F/NWC,44 p., (NTIS number is PB82 ) "AUnation removals of groundfish, herring, and shrimp from the eastern Bering Sea and northeast Pacific Ocean, ," by Sueto Murai.

Small-mesh trawl surveys, conducted annually sinceresulted in a strong database with nea individual sampling tows, collected over widely dispersed regions of the Gulf of Alaska. These data illustrate a massive change in the marine ecosystem, beginning in Alaska The Resource Assessment and Conservation Engineering Division of the Alaska Fisheries Science Center conducts bottom trawl surveys to monitor the condition of the bottom-dwelling fish and crab stocks of Alaska.

These data include catch per unit effort for each identified species at a standard set of stations. Scientists of the Groundfish Assessment Program of Alaska Fisheries Science Center's Resource Assessment and Conservation Engineering (RACE) Division conducted the tenth Gulf of Alaska Biennial Bottom Trawl Survey during the summer of This survey extends to 15 the series of surveys, previously conducted every 3 years between and   In Stock assessment and fishery evaluation report for the groundfish resources of the Gulf of Alaska.

Spatial and temporal trends in the abundance and distribution of forage fish and squid in the eastern Gulf of Alaska during summer 2. For this analysis, we included all bottom trawl surveys of the southeastern Bering Sea shelf that used either a mesh eastern trawl or a modified version of this trawl.

The mesh eastern trawl was used by the IPHC from toby NMFS beforeand by the State of Alaska from the mids to the present. Gulf of Alaska (GOA) Atka mackerel are on a biennial stock assessment schedule to coincide with the availability of new survey data from the biennial trawl survey.

The previous full assessment was presented inwhich included data from the GOA bottom trawl survey. On alternate (even). groundfish resources of the Gulf of Alaska (Dixon Entrance to Kodiak Island) during July—November The work was undertaken as part of a multi—year survey of rockfish and other groundfish of the northeast Pacific which began in Inan intensive bottom trawl and acoustic/midwater trawl survey, which targeted on rockfish and.

To examine long-term trends in the relative magnitude of fisheries resources within the Survey Area, a comparison was made between the catch per unit of effort (kg/hr) for the "" (actually ) survey by the IPHC and the BCF and the "" (actually ) surveys by the NMFS.

West Coast groundfish by the NMFS Alaska Fisheries Science Center {AFSC). Before these two surveys were the principal sources for fishery-independent data on the status and distribution of the commercial groundfish resources. To assess spatial and temporal patterns in groundfish communities we used fisheries independent surveys conducted by the Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC) between and The AFSC used the same sampling methodology and bottom trawl gear over the time series (stratified random sampling design; Armistead and Nichol, ; Stauffer.
